WPBF 25 NEWS SET NAMED ONE OF 2009’S BEST SET DESIGNS

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. (January 13, 2010) – NewscastStudio.com, a prominent television industry website, names WPBF 25’s news set as one of 2009’s best set designs.

“It’s nice to see our beautiful new set recognized. It was a rewarding project for WPBF 25 and it has made a big difference in how we bring our news to our viewers,” said WPBF 25 News Director, Kyle Grimes.

WPBF 25 debuted its new home on September 14th, 2009. Florida-based FX Group partnered with WPBF 25 on the breakthrough design.

FX Group’s WPBF 25 Breakthrough Design Wins First Annual Set Of The Year Award

FX Group’s creative studio/newsroom design for WPBF 25 (West Palm Beach – ABC affiliate) has won Newscaststudio.com’s best new set design of 2009. This first annual competition asked voters to choose between three news set designs nominated earlier in the month by the prominent television industry website. The breakthrough look was designed, fabricated and installed by Orlando based FX Group in late 2009.

When the staff at WPBF-TV approached FX Group, one of the design industry’s leading design firms, to create a new environment for the NBC affiliate station to present their news programming, little did the team know that the final design would be nominated for a Best Set Award.

The creative goal was to design a look for the next generation of news. The initial designs were multi-functional, featuring WPBF’s newsroom as the main background for the studio set. But soon after the layout of the areas was finalized, the design process got off track. “When a station asks for 'the look of the future' you never know how far to push them” states Glenn Anderson Senior Designer at FX Group. "So we started with Classic Modern. And they were not impressed."
