KMBC-TV, one of the nation's leading ABC affiliates, selected FX Group to fill its new state-of-the-art studio and newsroom with an innovative working news environment.

FX designers came on board in the early stages of planning and worked with station staffers to develop a functional and flexible newsroom and set.

The studio's main anchor desk is fully mobile and can be arranged to give viewers a sweeping view into the newsroom, dominated by an impressive circular metal frame that holds HD monitors and banners with station logos. In the other position the station's state-of-the-art high definition control room appears behind a wall of frosted windows.

The flexibility doesn't end at the desk. One side of the set features a standup area with plasma screen, while an area of the weather set doubles as an alternate in-studio reporting position for news.

KMBC-TV's set also includes an interview-style area with mobile furniture that can double as an additional standup area equipped with a rear projection screen.

FX's also designed a massive assignment desk at the heart of the newsroom that includes flexible work areas for assignment editors and the station's Web editors.
