"Working with FX was the most pleasant and successful collaboration I’ve been a part of, and I’ve been involved with six set design projects in my career. Throughout the design process, FX listened, interpreted our substantial input and translated it into a creative and functional design. Despite the number of the people involved, FX helped us stay on point and the result was impressive." — Bill Carey, News Director, 2003
This impressive set gave KRON-TV an eye-catching, unique and network-style look for this newly independent station.
The set's main anchor desk sits beneath a curved ticker and balcony, with the station's logo visible from everywhere in the studio. Behind the desk is a rear projection screen which can double as an anchor background or, when the anchor desk is rotated, a standup location. On either side of the screen are monitor banks encased in frosted plexiglass that reach the set's second level.
To the left of the anchor area, a staircase landing serves as a standup area and leads to a balcony featuring a gallery of large duratrans featuring San Francisco landmarks, including a dramatic two-story tall image of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The set also includes a working weather center with frosted plexiglass dividers and several additional standup locations.
