Facing a crowded HD newscast market, Dallas' CBS owned and operated duopoly needed a new set that would stand out and be flexibile enough to accomodate both newscasts' unique branding.

FX Group created a set that is home to CBS affiliate KTVT-TV and independent sister station KTXA-TV newscasts. Built around a centralized, shared weather area flanked by two anchor sets, each with a distinct look that coordinates perfectly with the weather office.

On the KTVT-TV side, faux stonework combined with wood tones and branded graphics create a traditional yet modern look, complete with a circular standup area and monitors lining the curved header. The anchor area is accented with hand-crafted lighted columns.

Behind the anchor desk, a unique cityscape duratran set back from the main walls gives the set a sense of depth. The duratran can be changed out for different times of the day and frames a movable plasma screen.

In addition to the two anchor sets, a separate sports area includes three large DLP monitors and mobile standup pod for maximum flexibility.
