"Working with FX was the most pleasant and successful collaboration I’ve been a part of, and I’ve been involved with six set design projects in my career. Throughout the design process, FX listened, interpreted our substantial input and translated it into a creative and functional design. Despite the number of the people involved, FX helped us stay on point and the result was impressive." — Bill Carey, News Director, 2003
WXYZ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Detroit, needed an active, bold set to match its "Action News" name.
FX Group designed an impressive set that spans almost the entire perimeter of the studio. Throughout the envrionment, broad curves, colorful graphics and rear projection screens give the set the appearance of constant motion.
At the center of the studio sits the main anchor area, equipped with a rear projection screen background and flanked by curved side walls.
A unique weather center with an additional rear projection screen, a mobile plexiglass map, rollaway chroma key wall and plasma array makes the station's forecasts active and eye-catching. The set is designed to allow talent to deliver forecast from multiple locations throughout the studio.
Continuing around the studio are dedicated standup and breaking news areas, each with branded graphic backgrounds. Finally, a third rear projection screen is situated behind the set's interview area.
